How To Fix AirPods Connected But No Sound [Solved]

How To Fix AirPods Connected But No Sound?

If your AirPods or AirPods Pro are connected and no sound is coming out then, turn OFF your Bluetooth, then turn it back ON. If that doesn’t work, go into settings by clicking the gear icon then go to Bluetooth then Info, and then Click on Forget this device. Make sure your AirPod’s lid is open. Now, hold on to the back button on the Airpods for 10-15 sec and then repair it.

Fix 1 – Try Hard-Resetting your AirPods

This method takes hardly 5 minutes and is likely to fix your issue 80% of the time. This is how you hard-reset your Airpods;

  1. Unpair your AirPods
  2. Put both AirPods in the case with the lid open.
  3. Press and hold down the circular button on the back of the charging case for 15 sec. Seconds.
  4. Close the charging case and then re-open it. You’ll see a blinking white light.
  5. Unlock your iPhone and pop will appear to pair your AirPods.
  6. Follow the instructions and it’ll reset your AirPods.

Now try listening to the music, the sound should come through the Airpods. If it doesn’t work, move on to the next step.

Fix 2. Forget your AirPods and Re-Pair

This is another simple and highly effective method to bring back sound through your AirPods. You simply need to forget your AirPods and then re-pair them with your iPhone.

Here is the simple method to do so;

Click on Bluetooth>>Select your AirPod>>Forget the Device>>Forget Device

Fix 3. Reset Bluetooth

If there is no sound coming out from your Airpods then you may need to reset the iPhone’s Bluetooth connection. Here is a simple method to reset Bluetooth;

1. Go to Settings

2. Scroll down and select Bluetooth

3. Tap on the toggle next to Bluetooth to turn it off.

4. After 30 seconds, turn it back on by tapping on the toggle again.

5. Your iPhone will now reset Bluetooth.

6. Select your Airpods and reconnect again.

This is an easy method but worth a try, it’ll take just 2-3 minutes to complete this process. Nothing better than this if it works and the sound starts coming from your Airpods.

Fix 4. Reset your Device

If you’re still having AirPods connected and no sound issues, resetting your iPhone may fix them. Here’s how to do it:

Note – Back up your data. This is important in case something goes wrong and you need to restore your iPhone. You can use iCloud or a computer to back up your data.

1. Go to Settings and tap General.

2. Tap Reset and then tap Reset all settings.

3. Enter your passcode if prompted.

4. Tap Reset all settings again to confirm.

5. Your iPhone will restart and all of your settings will be reset.

Resetting technique works for most of the case whether it is connecting to wifi or AirPods with no sound. It basically soft reset your device and clean the cache and data.

 Fix 5. Update iOS

Keeping your iPhone up-to-date is highly critical. There is a possibility that nothing is wrong with your AirPods and it’s the outdated iPhone software that is creating the issue. 

Updating iOS is a straightforward process;

To do this, open the Settings app and tap on General. Then, scroll down and tap on Software Update. If there’s an update available, you’ll be able to download it from here. Once the update is downloaded, you’ll be asked to install it. Tap on Install and enter your passcode if prompted. The update will then install on your device.

Fix 6. Clear EarWax in your AirPods

While the AirPods are effective at blocking out debris and wax, it’s still possible for them to get dirty over time. If you’re having trouble hearing or if your AirPods just don’t seem to be sounding as good as they used to, it might be time to clean them.

Here’s how to clear earwax and dirt from your AirPods:

1. Turn off your AirPods and remove them from your ears.

2. Open the charging case and remove the AirPods.

3. Use a soft cloth or cotton swab to wipe down the earbuds and the charging case. You can also use the isopropyl alcohol at the top of the swab.

4. Reinsert the AirPods into the charging case and close the lid.

Point to Note – Apple advises not to put AirPods in water and to clear earwax and dirt from them using a dry cloth. If there is visible earwax or dirt on the microphone mesh, you can remove it with a pointed object like a toothpick.

  Fix 7. Turn off Automatic Ear Detection

AirPods are a revolutionary product due to their excellent user-friendly interface and technology. As soon as you put AirPods in your ear, it automatically detects your ear and starts playing music.

It is ON by default, tap on the toggle to TURN it OFF. Now connect your AirPods and see if you get your sound back. If you do then turn it back ON to see if it stays the same.

To Turn OFF Automatic Ear Detection, Go to Settings>Bluetooth>Select your AirPods and then toggle OFF and ON.

This is just to rule out if your Automatic Ear Detection function doesn’t have any issue. 

If you’re still having trouble getting your AirPods to play sound while connected. Move on to the next step.

   Fix 8. Connect to a different Device

If you still had no luck in getting sound back on AirPods, try connecting your AirPods to a different device like another iPhone, Android, or Mac and see if it’s working fine or not.

By doing this, you’ll get to know if the problem is with your phone or AirPods.

Sometimes, hard resetting your AirPods or forgetting and re-pairing them with your device can fix the problem.
