Here, in the Manage Installed Applications list, click on the Disney Plus app and click on Force Stop and then click on Clear Cache option. After this, click on Clear Data if the first two don’t work to ensure the app starts working again.

If the Firestick and Disney Plus are functioning separately, read on to find out how you can fix this problem.

Method 1 – Reset your Firestick

If the Disney Plus app is not working or crashing, you might want to start troubleshooting using the Restart via Settings option for your Firestick. It will reset the FireStick and bring it back to its original settings.

Press the center button on the Firestick remote then Go to the Settings menu > My Fire TV > Restart. Once done, open the Disney Plus app to check if it is resolved.

In case the error is persistent, try the next alternative procedure.

Method 2 – Device Compatibility Issue

Now, you must check if your FireStick is even compatible with the Disney Plus app. If you are using a first- or second-generation FireStick, there is a chance that the Disney Plus app is not compatible with the FireStick remote. To check the compatibility of your FireStick remote with the Disney Plus app, you can access the list here.

If the TV screen shows Error Code 83, you should know that it is either a device compatibility issue or an unstable internet connectivity issue.

However, if that is not the case and your internet is working correctly, you might want to check if you’re using an unsupported emulator to access Disney Plus or a browser instead of the app.

Here’s what you can do:

On the Firestick remote controller, press and hold the play/pause button and the big middle button simultaneously until the device powers off. After you let go of the buttons, it will restart the device, which may solve your problem.

Method 3 – Force Stop and Clear Data & Cache

If the above procedure was not helpful, here’s another one that you can try:

  • Go to the home screen on your device. Now, go to the Settings menu.
  • Click on Applications > Manage Installed Applications.
  • In this list, look for the Disney Plus app, select the Force Stop option, and then the Clear Cache option.

If this fails too, go through the same steps, select Force Stop, and then Clear Cache again. Additionally, click on Clear Data after this. Using Clear Data will do the trick if the other two options do not prove helpful.

Method 4 – Power Cycle both Router and FireStick

If the above method has not worked either, you should try and do a power cycle for your TV and the FireStick. Follow below steps to do this:

  • Unplug your TV and the FireStick streaming device. For your TV, remove the plug from the power socket and for the FireStick, remove the plug from the back of the TV screen.
  • In case you don’t have a FireStick but an in-built Fire TV in your TV, simply unplug your TV.
  • After both the TV and FireStick streaming device have been unplugged, you will need to wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • In the unplug mode, find and press the power button of your TV for 30 seconds. This will drain all remaining power from the TV and allows the TV to do a soft reset.

Once this is done, and the TV and the FireStick is unplugged for 60 seconds, plug them back in. This should make the Disney Plus app work perfectly now.

In case you are still facing issues, you need to check your internet router if your Disney Plus screen gets stuck after entering the app. And all you need to do is to turn off the automatic IPV6 protocol.

Now, it is also possible that your router is not updated and has IPV4 protocol instead of IPV6 protocol. So, how will you disable the protocol that doesn’t exist on your router? Here’s how.

  • Login to your router. Now, go to the Advanced section, select Advanced Setup, and then go to the IPV6 menu.
  • Here, change the IP Address Assignment to DHCP Server. It will help you show the IPV6 Firewall option on the screen.
  • Now, disable the IPV6 Firewall Protection. Once done, save the configuration settings.

Return to the main screen, stop Disney Plus and restart it. Now,

Go to Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Disney Plus > Force Stop > Launch application.

And with this, your problem will be solved, and Disney Plus will start working.

Note: The process can vary as per your router.

Now, press the TV’s power button for 30 seconds and stay put. Remember that you’re supposed to press the TV button, not your remote controller. It will do a soft reset on the TV.

Afterward, plug the TV and the Firestick back into where they were before. The Disney Plus app should start working now.
